Go to Supernatural Coffee – Friday – June 19th – all day long – proceeds to be donated to Friends of Hudson Youth and Greater Promise Neighborhood!
Watch the video above!
Don’t forget the Bake Sale at Like Minded Objects on Saturday.
It’s strawberry season! Where can you get fresh strawberries in/around Hudson?
Well, BOTH Farmers’ Markets have vendors with strawberries – the Saturday Market from 9am – 1pm (remember, there are TWO parking lots – between 5th & 6th on Columbia and Columbia and 7th) and the Hudson Wednesday Market.
Even though I work at both of these markets AND I can often barter a bag of chocolate chip cookies for some fresh berries, I totally forgot this week.
There’s always Holmquest Farms. $5.50/quart! Go in the morning!
Want a Cape Cod experience on Route 66 in Greenport? Near the A&W?
Verity Smith eats a LOBSTAH roll at the fabulous Red Barn in Hudson and tells you about it. CLICK HERE.
Fried Clams and Smashed Potatoes at the Red Barn.
You have to get the Smashed Potatoes. They are amazing – creamy made with sour cream. Tell them Trixie sent you!
You may not think that this is important, but if I can help just ONE person with their garbage-bag-vending-machine experience, then it is all worthwhile. Please read, deus ex machina, a blog post that will forever live on this website under “Trixie Tips”. Tell your friends. Spread the word! No one else should suffer.
There’s dozens of excellent restaurants in Hudson, but I don’t think that any of them have a food porn studio like the Wunderbar Bistro. The pictures on their facebook page are out of control. It looks like they have a lighting and set design staff. The quart drink is enough for two people. It pours out two large glasses.
Chocolate Brownie Sundae $6

Peach Pie Sweet Teany – Quart container. $12
Unfortunately, as I write this, the restaurant VICO closes its doors permanently.
It’s supposed to be very hot this weekend and maybe rain. This would have been PRIDE weekend in the City of Hudson – the eleventh parade – 2010-2020! Unfortunately, there’s no Pride Parade this weekend, which is a shame, because it’s going to be 90 plus degrees and humid – the perfect weather for putting on heels, some tights, makeup, a dress, a polyester wig, then marching the length of Warren Street! I’m going to miss that.
In its place, OutHudson has a series of on-line events planned. You can find out more on OutHudson’s Facebook page! We are planning more events in late September – hopefully, by then, in-person. If you see a pride can of Nine Pin Cider, buy it! $5 from every case sold is donated to OutHudson!
If you can’t stand the heat, there are plenty of quick, cool get-aways, like High Falls in Philmont – just 10-15 minutes out of Hudson! It gets busy on the weekends, so maybe try mid-week. If you’ve never been, here’s a quick video below. You have to hike down and around to get to the water (it’s not intuitive). My friend and I did it last week, sat on the rocks and put our feet in the cool, clear water. When we were ready to go, we helped each stand up, straightened our knee braces, and finished the hike. Then, quart drinks and brownie sundaes at Wunderbar. Done.
Summer!
