Dogs and cats currently available for adoption.
National Puppy Day is March 23 – and now, when you order through Delivery.com, you have the option to make a donation to the Columbia-Greene Humane Society located in Greenport, New York.
It’s easy to make a donation with your order! Tonight, I order a Beyond Burger from Wunderbar and added a $5 donation to the Columbia-Greene Humane Society. (I thought it appropriate to order a vegetarian meal with my Humane Society donation, but that is not a requirement!).
The donation option is in the left side column.
Seth Weiss, operator of Delivery.com in Hudson, says, “I am very excited about the partnership with our friends and the Columbia-Greene Humane Society. Personally, over the years my family has adopted three Rottweilers, a cat (and her four kittens) and two horses from the Humane Society.
“Additionally, I personally volunteered my time during high school at the Columbia-Greene Humane Society.
When ordering food, diners can select to contribute to the Columbia-Greene Humane Society from $1.00, $5.00, $10.00, or $20.00 donations.”
Seth grew up in Ghent, worked for Delivery.com in New York City, and returned to Columbia County to start a Delivery.com service. Delivery.com delivers food from local restaurants anywhere within a five mile radius of Hudson, New York.
Ron Perez, CEO of Columbia-Greene Humane Society
Columbia-Greene Humane Society re-homes approximately 1,000 dogs and cats per year. They offer boarding, day care, grooming and veterinary services. They can board up to forty-five dogs for $25/night each. Their low-cost spay and neutering services are a bargain – $175/female and $125/male.
Columbia-Greene Humane Society has a “no-questions-asked” policy if anyone needs food for their pet. Bill Williams’ pet food drives at Shoprite throughout the years has helped replenish the food bank.
Pet food and toys are available free/no cost. No questions asked, 7 days/week, 11:30-4pm, side door.
Columbia-Greene Humane Society helps those in need keep their pets.
Cats can relax in their condos – and even “escape” outside for some fresh air.
When Ron Perez started working at Columbia-Greene, about twenty-four years ago, they would take in approximately 6,000 animals annually. Today, thanks to people who spay and neuter their pets, that number is down to about 1,000 animals annually. Nowadays, many of the dogs and cats that are up for adoption come from other areas of the country, such as the south and west.
Volunteers can offer to walk shelter dogs or take them into the play area.
This past year, with the pandemic, Columbia-Greene Humane Society has seen a drop in their boarding and grooming services. Every donation helps.
Seth Weiss from Delivery.com adds, “Anyone who adopts a dog, cat, or other large animal from the Columbia-Greene Humane Society gets a $20.00 gift card for delivery.com. If you use the low-cost spay and neutering services, you will receive an additional $10.00 gift card for delivery.com.”
Help the animals, and the next time you place an order with Delivery.com, look for the donation link on the side.
The Columbia-Greene Humane Society is located at 111 Humane Society Road, Hudson, NY 12534.
