The Hudson Film Festival launches August 11-13, 2023 in Hudson, New York with the North American premiere of Berlinale opener ‘She Came To Me’, starring Peter Dinklage, Marisa Tomei, and Anne Hathaway, written & directed by Rebecca Miller.
Notable Hudson Valley destination & New York state artist hub, Hudson is now the home of an international film festival launching August 11-13, 2023.
Hudson Film Festival, co-founded by John Maybee, Sarah Peters, and Sonia Marcela Freeman, serves as the flagship of the forthcoming Hudson Valley Film Institute, a non-profit educational arts initiative.
The festival’s 2023 inaugural slate is anchored by the North American premiere of award-winning filmmaker Rebecca Miller’s She Came To Me, starring Emmy winner Peter Dinklage, Academy Award winner Marisa Tomei, and Academy Award winner Anne Hathaway.
The film features a new original song by Bruce Springsteen, ‘Addicted To Romance,’ as well as an original score and two operas by Bryce Dessner, the Grammy Award-winning classical composer and founding member of the band The National. Vertical will release the film theatrically on Friday, September 29.
The exciting line up of feature films includes ‘Mutt’ (Winner, Special Jury Award: Acting, 2023 Sundance Film Festival), ‘Going Varsity in Mariachi’ (Winner, Jonathan Oppenheim Editing Award, 2023 Sundance Film Festival), and a 2023 Berlinale premiere in the Panorama section, ‘Perpetrator’.
Acclaimed short films screening at the festival include Academy Award-nominated ‘The Flying Sailor’, Sundance Grand Jury Prize winning ‘When You Left Me on That Boulevard’ and Locarno Film Festival premiere In ‘The Big Yard Inside the Teeny-Weeny Pocket’.
The festival launches with the support of Hudson arts venues, businesses and partners, including Hudson Hall, Time & Space Limited, Basilica Hudson, Sprig & Social, The Wick Hotel, and the City of Hudson.
