Kurt Andernach, Founder: It all started in 2010, when I was making small talk with a coffee shop owner telling him that I always wanted to wake up to the crow of a rooster. A friend of his had a rooster that was in danger of finding an untimely end by the hands of disgruntled neighbors. Just days later the rooster and his favorite girl moved in with me. Henry and Henrietta are the true founders of And-Hof Animals!
Kurt Andernach, Founder: At this time over 300 animals call And-Hof home. The animal population has grown exponentially over the past few years. We have goats, roosters, ducks, geese, sheep, turkeys (wild and domestic), alpacas, pigs, potbelly pigs, chickens, and donkeys. None of them would be alive today had we not saved them. Many of them come with heartbreaking stories, short- and long-term trauma, and sometimes with chronic health issues.
Kurt Andernach, Founder: To give you a bit of an overview, our annual expenses for animal feed are $28K-$36K hay $8K-$11K, veterinary bills $30K-$40K, medical supplies $9K-$12K, etc. All in all, I need to raise $220,000 at a minimum to keep the animals safe and healthy. That does not include an income for me.
