Hudson, America, a coming-of-age documentary from filmmakers Zuzka Kurtz and Geoffrey Hug (Blade #1, HREAM) is now available through Amazon Prime Video in America, the UK and Australia.
The film follows six Gen-Z Bangladeshi immigrant students from 2016 – 2022 as they graduate high school and leave the safety of their conservative, Muslim community in Hudson, NY to attend colleges around the northeast.
Building on the lineage of famed documentaries the Up Series (Michael Apted), Hoop Dreams (Steve James) and the film, Boyhood (Richard Linklater), Hudson, America is an important diary of events as experienced by the students\’ struggles with xenophobia, arranged marriages, forbidden love, & the pressure of leaving their insular Muslim community over the backdrop of the divisive politics of the last seven years.
“Amazon Prime Video provides the perfect platform to get these exceptional young people’s stories to as many people as possible,” says co-director Zuzka Kurtz. “These kids and the community at large are truly a microcosm of the larger world and the issues we have collectively faced over the last seven years,” adds co-director Geoffrey Hug.
