The Mac-Haydn Theatre has announced “The Fantasticks” as the sixth and concluding production of their 2024 Mainstage season schedule. The theatre’s 55th summer season will also include previously announced “West Side Story,” “Sister Act,” “RENT,” “All Shook Up,” and “Something Rotten.” Tickets are now on sale at www.machaydntheatre.org.
Known to many as “the world’s longest-running musical,” “The Fantasticks” broke records with a 42-year Off-Broadway run, and since has become a beloved, timeless classic to audiences of all ages. A tale of a young couple navigating the dichotomies of love, the musical allegory features a romantically charming score, including songs “Try to Remember,” “Soon It’s Gonna Rain,” “Much More,” and “They Were You,” guaranteeing a captivating, touching close to the 2024 Mac-Haydn season.
“For me, selecting the 2024 season became about finding this great balance of shows to make us both laugh and reflect,” said Producing Artistic Director John Saunders. “I really wanted some shows with big comedy but also shows that we can all truly relate to. I hope our audiences find how each of the shows this season has its own very distinct story to tell.”
In addition to the Mainstage lineup, the theatre’s Limited Performances Series will return this summer, featuring guest artists in concert-style programs. These titles and calendars will be revealed in a follow-up announcement in the coming weeks.
