From the 11 Warren Street Action Group:
We’ve collected over 550 signatures thus far, but we can do better!
If you’ve already signed, thank you!!! If you want to help further, see below. Note: Petition is open to anyone, regardless of residence; however, Columbia County residence preferred.
In a nutshell:
· County purchased 11 Warren Street in Hudson for County office and storage space.
· Decisions made “behind closed doors” without public input.
· County’s plans will remove 11 Warren Street from the tax rolls and increase taxes in Columbia County and the City of Hudson.
The County’s plans will destroy opportunity for decades to come for any positive redevelopment to reconnect Warren Street with the riverfront and provide:
o Much needed mixed-income housing
o Commercial spaces and job creation
o Tax revenues for the County and the City
o Opportunities for cultural and community-based facilities.
· The County plans to spend at least $8.9 million for “refurbished” 11 Warren St; thus, $477 cost per square foot. This is almost triple the cost-average of the eight other County-owned buildings in Hudson. This is a wrong-headed wasteful use of taxpayer dollars for the City of Hudson and the County! The County Board of Supervisors should reverse their decision and pursue better solutions. See Petition statement here for further details.
See Petition statement here for further details.
When petition campaign is completed, results will be presented to the Columbia County Board of Supervisors with our appeal for change.
