Water Park Day Trips
Swan Boat Rides Return to
Six Flags Great Escape in Lake George

If you’re looking to get out of town and cool off at a waterpark, consider Six Flags Great Escape, Lake George or Six Flags New England, in Agawam, MA.
The Lake George amusement park reopened the Swan Boat Rides, which originally started seventy years ago. The Swan Boat Ride is an amazingly peaceful ride circling roller coasters.
There is no tour; you sit in silence as you pass the flora.

The boat is tied to the dock manually with rope. It’s Get off the boat and walk around Storytown.

Six Flags Great Escape and Six Flags New England are about an hour and a half from Hudson, north and east, respectively. Both make the perfect day trip. The two amusement parks have water parks for every age, and a place to sit and have a beer or frozen piña colada.
Great Escape in Lake George has very cute Storytown with little nursery rhyme houses, making it more suitable for younger kids and housing preservationists. Six Flags New England has more thrill rides, including roller coasters with Batman and Superman theming, making it more attractive to a teen crowd.

A $75 season pass will get you unlimited admission into both parks (and La Ronde in Montreal) for the rest of the year, including parking and a discount on food and beverages.

I prefer the Lake George park, while my teenage family members prefer New England. Either way, it’s a good way to beat the heat on a hot summer day!
