ASTROLOGY-BASED COUNSELING (ABC)

Posted on Wed,Jan 15, 2025Sat,Feb 15, 2025 by Jill Dearman

Greetings. I want to introduce to you a new service I’ve developed in response to the state of the world at the start of the second quarter of the 21st Century, in conjunction with the start of a two-decade long shift in astrology. Pluto, the planet of power and self-transformation has just entered Aquarius, the sign of invention, friendship, and technology where it will transit through 2044, a whole generation. In addition, two other outer planets – Uranus and Neptune — are making shifts of great magnitude as well. I will continue to offer chart readings (see below), but I am now expanding to meet the moment.

ABC is more than just an acronym. It holds the main objective of my technique which is to help you to

Activate your intention
Believe in your ability to manifest your desires
Create the life you dream of

An Astrology-Based Counseling session is like getting a chart consult, therapy, and life coach all rolled into one well-organized, nurturing and results-oriented 45 minute session.

Before our appointment, I draw up your natal chart via computer as well as by hand, and look at the upcoming astrology. My astrology practice goes back decades, and the actual hand-drawing of charts has a simple wisdom and playful magic that clients find inspiring. I choose a few areas of your chart that stand out to me as being of major importance, given the current and upcoming astrological “weather.” I will share my insights in depth. In the next part of the session, we focus on a goal, something you want to manifest. We do a little meditation and intention-setting, and work on obstacles. Essentially, I guide you on an intuitive journey to do the inner work and take practical steps to bring your desire to life. After the session, I will email you some follow-up guidance and homework, which you can use to keep the momentum going. And despite all the elements we cover, the experience is relaxing and playful, and more than anything you will feel truly listened to, and heard.

How to know if ABC is right for you:

  1. Are you at a crossroads, and not sure which way to turn?
  2. Have you tried different kinds of guidance from experts, but haven’t been able to significantly move the needle in your life?
  3. Does the volatile, unpredictable state of the world put you in a frequent state of anxiety, darkness, or overwhelm?
  4. Do you wish to be truly listened to, and experience a relaxing peaceful form of counseling?
  5. Would you like to tap into your most authentic self and make decisions based on belief in yourself, instead of fear of failure or being judged?
  6. Do you sense that this is a unique moment on earth, and a unique moment for you to try something new and take a chance on totally transforming your life for the better?
  7. Do you sense that establishing a baseline peace of mind, and manifesting your goals and desires will lead you to truly making positive changes in the world?
  8. Would you take a leap of faith if you knew you could work with someone whom you could trust, with a unique skill-set and vision, who would make the process fun and inspiring, and leave you with the tools to continue to grow on your own?

What does your gut tell you? What else do you need to know? You can reach out to me with any questions.

I also offer packages for clients who are looking to go deep and focus on long term transformation.

4-packs
6-packs
10-packs

ABC sessions purchased in packages are available at a discount.

Contact: JillDearman@gmail.com for more information and to arrange a consultation.

I am also available for traditional chart and card readings.

SHORT BIO: Jill Dearman writes regularly about astrology for Reader’s Digest and MSN.com, and back in the day wrote for a multitude of women’s magazines including Redbook, Ladies’ Home Journal, and Mademoiselle. Her horoscopes also appeared throughout the aughts in the popular tween magazine Twist. In addition, her queer horoscopes were syndicated for years. She is the author of Queer Astrology for Men and Queer Astrology for Women (St. Martins) which have been translated into multiple languages. She is also a Professor of Writing in Liberal Studies at New York University, and a well-published author of fiction and nonfiction.

MY MISSION FOR ASTROLOGY-BASED COUNSELING (ABC)

People know more about astrology than when I started practicing decades ago. In the past, I would differentiate to clients and readers of my astrology books and columns the two types of astrology I offered. There was Sun Sign Astrology and horoscopes, which I shared in books and magazines (and still do), but this of course could only cover the archetypal big picture issues of the zodiac signs and what phases they might going through. And then there was the deep stuff: the Birth Chart Readings. This would entail a deep dive into a client’s natal chart; doing a reading felt epic like an opera. There would be follow-ups to look at upcoming astrology and how it could affect the client. This would occur at longer intervals. Perhaps six months or a year.

The former type of astrology (Sun Sign) was very general by nature and the latter (Personal Chart Readings) hyper-focused and specific.

Now, as I look around, I see that people have more access to learning about different aspects of astrology. You may know about Venus retrograde, what it means and when it is passing over your Sun or your Rising Sign. You can read astrology columns that do much deeper dives into outer planet transits of Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto. You can find out and integrate what the influence of an upcoming eclipse, or set of eclipses may be. But somehow it all feels very piecemeal, incomplete. The bones are there but where is the flesh and blood? It comes from a meeting with a real astrologer, but these sessions tend to be set up only once or twice a year.

But I am now ready to offer a new system that uses the intricacies of your birth chart in a way that a life coach would, and a therapist would as well.

You see, I have had a private business as a writing coach since the early aughts, and my book Bang the Keys  (Penguin)is based on my extremely popular six-week writing workshops. Before that, during college and the years after I volunteered and was employed as a counselor. As a student, I learned the skills of client-centered counseling which I used on phone calls and walk-in sessions of our University Crisis Center. This experience included two years as a Director, and put me on the front lines of life and death crises . After college, I volunteered for the Gay and Lesbian Switchboard in New York City, and then worked for the New York City Department of Health as a counselor on the (anonymous) AIDS Hotline, during the height of the AIDS epidemic.

I have consistently found that one service I offer leads to requests for another. Writers wanted chart or tarot readings. Astrology clients wanted to write and create. But through it all the threads of being a listener, confidante, ally and skilled guide all became naturally entangled in an elegant way. Now I am braiding the threads of astrology, counseling, and coaching work to offer something to clients that is practical, relevant, and soulful.

I have been called a master manifester and I have a formula that works like magic (if you work it)!

Astrology Client Endorsements

“Years later, I still reflect on Jill’s reading of my highly Arian chart — in many ways, she provided me with lessons and themes that will instruct me for the rest of my life.”

–Karyn Kusama, film/tv director, YELLOWJACKETS on Showtime.

“Jill Dearman personifies all the best parts of New York City. She’s brilliant and irreverent, soulful and sophisticated, and more down-to-earth than most people you’ll ever meet. Her knowledge of pop culture and insight into the cosmic world is quite simply life-altering. She guided me into a new phase of creativity with psychic wisdom and great humor. Jill understands the basic laws of causality and the cosmos with a laid-back intuition that will make you feel safe and very strong. Jill Dearman is a good person, a great reader of people and literature, and a writer of many gifts. It is a blessing to be in her presence.”

–Molly Rosen, Founder, Director: Brooklyn Writers Collective.

“Unlike many astrologers, Jill approaches each reading as a window into the elements that comprise a personality, not to ‘predict’ the future. So when she gave a reading for my newborn son, it was fascinating to hear about his potential interests and personality, and I often think about her reading, as it has proven to be amazingly accurate. A great gift for a new parent.”

–Laura Staton, author, Baby Om (Henry Holt) and Yoga Bones (Hachette).
