LUNCHEON and LECTURE
Between 1890 and 1920, the Hudson Valley was home to over 400 greenhouses filled with violets. More than 5,000 stems were picked each day, bundled and shipped to Boston, Philadelphia and even Chicago. Historian Steven Mann will be speaking about this local phenomenon on Sunday, May 7th after a 12:30 luncheon held at Temple Israel of Catskill, 220 Spring St., Catskill, NY.
The event is a fund raiser for the Temple. For reservations, call or text 518.751.8986 or e-mail stevenaamann@gmail.com.
