Rees Shad and the Conversations w/s/g Meghan Cary

Over the course of a prolific 40-year career featuring 32 releases and 17 solo albums, Rees Shad has created genre bending music that manages to be both poignant and profound, stories shared from his heart that still resonate with universal appeal. “Sometimes terse, always tender, [Shad’s] songs resonate with emphatic emotions convincingly conveyed in every verse and chorus” (American Songwriter). His new album, Porcelain Angel, slated for release on March 21st, is no exception. The album charts new avenues into this wordsmith’s fertile imagination sharing tales that are both personal and provocative which feature characters who are “unforgettable messengers for the wisdom and beliefs that are at the heart of Shad’s work” (Robert Baird).

Rees is supported by three stalwart musicians (The Conversations), Marcus Benoit on sax and flute, Jeff Link on Bass, and Rob “Bobby Kay” Kovacs on drums.  Together the four musicians treat Shad’s bluesy Americana and folk stylings with a jazz inspired framework making Shad’s songs retain a freshness that is grounded in a musical conversations that is a thrill to witness.

“Can the world stand one more storytelling troubadour? If the artist in question is Meghan Cary, the answer is a resounding yes.”— Billboard

Meghan Cary creates a live music experience hailed as healing, inspiring and outrageously joyful. Her smoky voice, masterful storytelling, and award-winning songs garner favorable comparisons to Melissa Etheridge, Brandi Carlile, and even Bruce Springsteen. A frequent performer at Philly Folk, Falcon Ridge, Black Bear Americana, and other venerable fests, Cary’s message around the power of raising our voices together infuses every show. John Platt (WFUV) extols, “These times require songs of compassion and commitment. Meghan has several she sings with such infectious joy
you can’t resist joining in.”
Cary has shared stages with Christine Lavin, Sloan Wainwright, supported Joan Osborne, Lucinda Williams, Lucy Kaplansky, Chris Smither, and Little Feat among others. Time Out NY advises: “If you can get to a Meghan Cary show, run, don’t walk!”
