Ecology Series: Pollinator Walk with Fox Farm Apiary
Chris Layman from Fox Farm Apiary will lead a discussion on pollinators, bee nutrition, and the plants that support them. Topics will include the life of the honeybee, current local ecology and the habitats within for wild bees. Following this conversation, Chris will lead a walk around the property and identify some native bees on his favorite plants. Participants will come away with a better understanding of the irreplaceable role that pollinators play in our ecosystems and lives.
Chris and Lisa Layman are owners of Fox Farm Apiary. They offer Honeybee and Native pollinator education to the public and promote healthy landscapes for our precious pollinators to thrive. Chris mentors other beekeepers and keeps 140 beehives in 5 counties including Olana State Historic Site, Greene Land Trust, Opus 40 Stone Sculpture Park and the Thorn Preserve in Woodstock. Chris is an independent researcher and is enrolled in the Cornell Master Beekeeper program. You can learn more about what they do on their website. Keep up with Fox Farm Apiary on Instagram.
