Oakdale Lake Big Reveal Presentation

Hudson, NY, March 17, 2021 – Friends of Oakdale Lake announce the completion of ecological consulting firm Great Ecology’s two-year Oakdale Lake Water Quality Assessment Project with a final public presentation at Hudson Area Library on Wednesday, March 30 at 5:30pm.

The presentation will include a brief overview of the Oakdale Lake project and partners; a description of the Citizen Science Water Quality monitoring program that was conducted during the past two years, and a summary of the results of ecological studies, water quality surveys and predictive modeling efforts undertaken by Great Ecology. The presentation will conclude with a series of recommended management options for nutrient reduction and conservation at Oakdale Lake.

“The Oakdale Lake project is a showcase example of doing “Great Ecology” in an urban setting, where competing uses and complex management issues often challenge efforts to conserve natural resources,” says David Yozzo, Ph.D, Senior Ecologist at Great Ecology. “Working with Friends of Oakdale Lake and the City of Hudson has been truly collaborative and multidisciplinary. We look forward to continued work on this exciting project in the years ahead.”
