PLANT SALE

Each year as Spring approaches, the folks at Temple Israel of Catskill are in a perfect position to take advantage of the weather.  This year is no different.  Temple volunteer and gardener Steven Mann has been accumulating perfect gardening tools and related items just for this fundraising sale.

“We have people who save up their gardening supplies just for us,” he says.  “And, whenever we have fundraisers throughout the year, I set aside items that will be in demand for this event.”

One item no longer on the list: a patio table with matching chairs.  “My neighbor saw me taking photos of the set for the sale and he said it was just perfect for him.” Mann laughs.  “I didn’t even have to help him load it into his car.”  And, of course, the funds go to the Temple.

Another category that has been a sure seller in the past are the arranged planters Mann assembles.  With a great assortment of flowering annuals – all displayed in pots similar to the one shown above, they are perfect for patio, entry stairway, or pathway.  “We work really hard to make everything affordable,” Mann says.  “The planters are no exception.”

It is suggested that shoppers arrive early.  The sale runs from 8:30 until noon.  Additional items include potted plants, six packs, books on gardening topics, items related to gardening/landscaping and 50/50 and garden basket raffles.

The sale takes place at Temple Israel of Catskill, 220 Spring Street at the junction of Rtes. 385 and 23 in Catskill, NY 12414.  It is just west of the Rip Van Winkle Bridge.  For more information, call 518.751.8986.
