SHELLEY’S SHADOW
Out of work, out of money, and out of ideas, a gay writer entering his 60s finds himself the reluctant caretaker for two of his upstairs neighbors – Shelley, a gregarious lesbian in her 80s with encroaching Alzheimer’s-related dementia, and Shadow, her longtime canine companion – in the commissioned world premiere of Canadian playwright Brad Fraser’s hilarious and touching “Shelley’s Shadow”, coming to Catskill’s Bridge Street Theatre for a two-weekend run September 8-18. Based on only slightly fictionalized events, the play charts the three characters’ attempts to navigate the ups and downs of Shelley’s disease with wildly varying results – some funny, some infuriating, some absolutely heartbreaking. Virtually unique in its depiction of older gay and lesbian lives, “Shelley’s Shadow” will be presented Thursdays thru Saturdays at 7:30pm and Sundays at 2:00pm on BST’s “Priscilla” Mainstage, located at 44 West Bridge Street in the Village of Catskill, NY.
