The Jewish Influence in Catskill’s History
Learn about the development of this riverside community during its heyday. Visualize the growth and prosperity of Main Street. Familiar names including Halpert, Lerner, Oren, Sherman and Vipler, will be put into the city’s historical context. A café-style luncheon along with a silent auction and 50/50 raffle will be included.
Local historian and Temple Israel member, Steven Mann, a Catskill native, will be the featured speaker. He has been active in the local museum, library and garden club. He is former president, board member, house trustee and cemetery chair of Temple Israel of Catskill. During the summer, he can occasionally be seen giving private walking tours in Catskill.
Advance registration for this event is required. Checks made out to Temple Israel of Catskill (TIC) in the amount of $36 per person should be sent to Temple Israel, 220 Spring Street, Catskill, NY 12414. Deadline is August 17.
