The Olana Partnership and Upstate Films to Host Outdoor Movie Night at Olana State Historic Site
Join The Olana Partnership for a movie night under the stars in collaboration with Upstate Films on Friday, August 23. “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind” will be screened promptly at 8:00 PM with doors opening at 7:00 PM for music, food and fun. It’s the perfect opportunity to enjoy this timeless and heartwarming film under the night sky at Olana State Historic Site.
In “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind” (2004), director Michel Gondry delivers a scifi love story for the ages about memory, ideals, and tenderness. When Joel (Jim Carrey) discovers his ex-girlfriend Clementine (Kate Winslet) has had memories of him erased from her mind, he desperately decides to match the process and have her removed from his memory. But as Joel’s memories progressively disappear, he begins to rediscover his love for Clementine. Twenty years later, Gondry’s inventive exploration of love, memory, and loss is as relevant as ever.
This film is presented as part of Upstate Films’ 2024 Hudson Valley Picture Show and connects to Afterglow: Frederic Church and The Landscape of Memory, a summer exhibition on view at Olana State Historic Site until October 27. At 7:00 PM, join for a pre-film set with DJ Jared Widjeskog inspired by contemporary pop tracks and purchase delectable concessions sold by Catskill’s own Café Joust.
Tickets are $14 per person and $10 per person for members of The Olana Partnership. Purchase tickets for the movie night at www.upstatefilms.org/eternal-sunshine-of-thespotless-mind.
