The Village Cidiot
“The Village Cidiot,” a one-woman show written and performed by Hillsdale Town Historian Lauren Letellier, will be at Spencertown Academy Arts Center Saturday March 23 at 7:30pm and Sunday March 24 at 2:00pm. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased at spencertownacademy.org.
“Cidiot” is a mildly derisive term describing New York City residents who move upstate ill-equipped for rural life. The story is based on the author’s own experiences struggling with losing her urban identity, being unprepared for the realities of country living, and mourning the loss of her youngest brother. Reviewing the show’s premiere at Bridge St. Theatre’s 2023 SoloFest, Berkshire on Stage called it “uproarious and poignant” and “an entrancing piece of theater.”
“Locals and newcomers alike have told me they relate to my story, which in the end is really about trying to navigate life’s disruptions with humor and compassion,” said Letellier.
