WHO WE BE! An Exhibition and Celebration of Black LIfe in Columbia County
In this large, diverse, installation, mediamaker Tanya Jackson coalesces and updates a multimedia version of the long tradition in art of re-presenting history and personalities who might otherwise be forgotten. She incorporates artwork and archival material from multiple researched sources, leading visitors through an immersive experience in space and time, beginning with ancestors from Columbia County and beyond, including an imagined ancestral forest complete with sacred altar and reconstructed furnished interiors, photographs, and video/audio elements. Perfect for Juneteenth remembrances!
